Mark,
The easy way to reach that plug is to disconnect the 2 tranny mounts
and raise the tranny up slightly (it won't go far because of the
linkages). Then you can get your hand in there easier to remove it
and to get the threads started when going back in.
I believe that sooner of later you find out what part was the 1st one
on the assembly line. You know, the one they buid the entire car
around! I have to agree it has to be the wiper motor.
