RE: Re: Marine Pole Light Blowing Fuses

Just a side note the same fuse powers the horn. And you do need your horn
in the water. We had to replace the receptacle under the lid that holds the
marine light. Good Luck, Gloria

Larry,

I'm not sure this is your problem but if you took the light pole
apart it might be.

I once took my marine pole light apart to change the shaft and when I
put it back together it blew fuses every time. I found that the bulb
socket has two terminals on it but one is connected to the case so if
you put the positive wire onto that terminal it will blow the fuse.
I have no idea why Amphicars have such a weird bulb socket but a
similar situation exists with the backup lights, two terminals and
one is connected to the frame. I didn't notice any polarity markings
on the terminals but be sure to get the ground wire to the grounded
terminal. I blew quite a few fuses finding that out because a poor
connection between the lamp housing and the body made it blow a fuse
only intermittantly.

Looks good. But now fuse #2 blows when engine cover wire is
connected to pole light receptacle and marine light switch is
activated. Didn't before. No problem when pole light wire is
disconnected; bow light works OK. Pole light receptacle shows
no "improper" continuity to ground. Wire DOES show continuity to
ground when switch is off & 12v to (positive) ground when switch is
on. Any ideas? Running out of fuses to continue experiments.

Mothers Day Flowers - Support the Amphi List
================================================== =====
WHile the Amphicar list is provided at no charge, there is considerable time
spent playing admin. Likewise, several hundred dollars have recently been
spent on software and hosting for our potential move of the list. You can
support these efforts by ordering flowers through one of the internets
highest rated florists. Just follow the link below. It does not cost you
anymore but Growers sends a couple dollars this way for each order placed
via the following link.
