Hi Steve,

I've been intrigued by the possibility of a wankel engine in an
Amphicar for a couple of years now. The high RPM capability of those
engines would work well with the Amphi's low gear ratio. I suspect one
would be advised to limit the wankel to a smaller one from an earlier
car than the RX7. The large horsepower of the later engines would
probably trash the transmission and drive shafts. The engine itself
is quite small but I haven't looked into how the other items, like the
manifolds and carb would fit in.
