Re: Re: Wankel Engine

Hi Gang:

I am a member of the NSU Club as well and have three rotary engined cars 2
single rotor Spider and a 2 rotor Ro80. I agree with Peter that the Mazda
13 B would be the best engine to use. It is cheap to get and parts are
easily available. It is also cheap and easy to overhaul. The 12A is getting
harder to come by. Both engines are small enough to fit inside with an
adapter plate. The engines produce heat but I never had a problem with
that but given that the Amphi radiator is in the back I would suggest a
newer type radiator with double rows and of course it would have an
efficient electric fan and an external oil cooler. This would mean of
course using an alternator and switching the polarity on the gas gauge but
that is an easy fix as shown on the club's tech tips. Running the exhaust
would require some thought

The only thought I really have is how that would affect the value as it
would no longer be original. The project seems quite feasible.
