Mike,
I installed one of John's clutch kits in my Amphicar 1 year ago, and
I would 100%, without hesitation, recommend it to anyone. The entire
kit was the most professionally done replacement Amphicar part I have
ever seen. I knew from seeing the photos of his car that it would be
a Quality part! It was.
My Amphicar and engine are both stock, and John's kit was a simple
installation - no modifications needed at all.
I have had no problems, and I have no concerns, about the throwout
bearing being a problem.

No question - put it in.
