car sale - 02-25-2008, 11:22 AM

Hadley,

When I was buying a friends car (not an Amphicar), he wanted what I thought
was too much. So we decided to wait for an ebay insertion fee special. The
next weekend ebay had $1 insertion fees, so we listed it with an extremely
high reserve. Once it was on ebay we waited a week and the bidding stopped.
After the auction, a few ebayers contacted me with a higher offer, but it
was still way under the inflated reserve price. We took the highest
bidder's price and that was the selling price of the car.

The cost for this method was $21 for ebay and a week and a half of time. If
you are honest with the cars condition the market will set the price. These
cars are going through the roof and perhaps now coming back down to earth.
This could be a starting point. Good Luck!

It's time to let her go. That is my 1961 white amphi. I would appreciate
some advice on how to value this car. It drives well and cruizes just fine .
Lately however I just don't drive it enough. If someone can help with
valueing I would appreciate it. I know more info is needed to do this and
will pass it on when I know what is needed. I have some photos which may
help. This car is located on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
