any license plate list?

Is there a list of specialized license plate names on any club
members sites. I would like to order a set but don't want to
duplicate anyone elses. If not it would be a great addition to
someones home page.
Thanks Mike Bayman

Cap'n John has a nice page of Amphicar vanity plates with pix at
http://www.amphicar.net/minnow/pl8ts/pl8ts.htm, but he's got a whole lot
more going on thereabouts besides, such as tech and parts stuff, so you may
want to go in through his front door at http://www.amphicar.net/minnow/

On a related note, you'll find lots of other more "general" sites out there
dedicated to vanity plates...Any search engine will cough up pages of hits.
But Bob Sokol's site at http://www.bobsokol.com/vanityplates/vanity.html,
though not exactly Amphicar-specific (although it DOES feature Marc
Schlemmer's Amphi plate), certainly is a "kindred site", offering more than
one "aquatic" reference owing to Bob's homemade "Boatmobile"

Mike,

You should have what you like on your car. You won't duplicate
anything in your own state anyway! The plate for my Colorado Amphi is
"A WHAT?" (I added the question mark). My second '66 Cadillac
Convertible was "HAD1B4". Maybe let your car tell you what it should
be. Once her (his) personality comes out you can go from there.

Re: Re: any license plate list?

Pennsylvania simplifies the whole vanity plate issue considerably when it comes to any antique vehicle.

Ifyou want a Vanity plateyou must register my car as a normal vehicle and pay about $50 per year for renewal. You are also required to have the vehicle inspected annually.

Alternatively, since it is > 25 years old it can be registered as a historic or antique vehicle. There is a one time registration fee of about $60 but the registration never expires. Additionally, the car is then exempt from any annual inspection requirements. In this case you get whatever plate number the state assigns you.

I have thus put vanity aside and opted for the historic vehicle plates. Seemed like a no-brainer to me. In many states there are advantages to classic or historic tags. Might be something to check into wherever your own Amphi sets anchor.
