About Unsubscribing

I think the slams on people who can't figure out how to unsubscribe are
hysterical. My only wish is that I die at a ripe old age before I ever have
to attempt unsubscribing. How could I live without my daily Amphicar fix
anyway? Thanks Bilgemaster for all of your work.

Thanks for the kudos Dr. Hite. In view of the recent rash of hapless
apparently-trapped subscribers, I just ran a test: I created a brand new
free email account with Yahoo! which I then subscribed and subsequently
unsubscribed to this List with no problem whatsoever by simply following the
directions:

1. Send a blank email to amphicar-lovers-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

2. Within moments one receives a confirmation message from the List's
"robot" with the subject line "Please reply to unsubscribe from
amphicar-lovers"...So, like it says you simply hit "Reply" and send it.

3. You will then receive a confirmation message with the subject line "You
have been unsubscribed from amphicar-lovers"

That's it!...You're unsubscribed. It all takes less than a minute.

It's just a guess of course, but I don't suppose the now hopefully-departed
and irascible Dr. Smith's degree was in Computer Science. Funny, but in one
of his few postings to the List at
http://www.escribe.com/automotive/amphicar/m3403.html didn't he claim he was
some kind of "body man"? Jeez...he must be a regular Renaissance Man, Huh?
And who didn't love his work in "Lost in Space"?

In view of the above data, I would continue to prescribe duct tape for the
Doctor's condition. Rolls of it. Cover all those computer and monitor air
holes and seal up the keyboard good and tight too. That should keep
anything like this condition from ever afflicting the good Doctor ever
again.

Collegially yours,
Dr. Bilgemaster

Re: About Unsubscribing

Hmm, I think I have stumbled upon an idea which will
make me the richest man in Amphiland.

While I shall continue to run the list as a free
service to fellow amphipibians, I shall hereby
institute a $100 service fee for unsubscribing anyone
who is unable to follow the instructions to do so on
their own. :-)

To quote Douglas Adams, "A common mistake that people
make when trying to design something completely
foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of
complete fools."

Re: About Unsubscribing

I haven't got a clue why these folks are having so much trouble.
When the list moved to Yahoo I had two memberships. This was so I
could post to the list from my normal email (at home) or my yahoo
email (for personal email at work). I finally linked them (pretty
easy) and have rest my options so I read all the email on the web.

I wonder if these folks are sending email from the registered
account. It may be possible the the ISP inserts an address in the
sent mail that is different. This will cause the system to reject an
emailed unsubscribe.

Example:

my office email is eric.j.mattlin@ but the system recently went to
a new system so I am EM7131@ Incoming to either works but all
outgoing uses the EM7131. Makes it impossible to remove yourself
from an email list using the directions at the bottom. My suggestion
to those just joining the list is that they sign up via Yahoo (free)
and link their IDs. This makes leaving a one button process and you
have a lot of control over your email.

Eric
