During a swim last night as we were turning to go back to the ramp
something made a strange noise and then we had almost no power.
It sounded like the fan belt a first but we would have had the same
power to the props.
After pulling out on a beach, we pulled the back seat and noticed the
left prop shaft was not turning while the right one was. There is an
awful gravely clunking sound now.
Question: Does the engine have to come out to remove or open the
water tranny?
We had noticed a vibration in the left side after replacing the
outside portion of the prop shaft assy in the parking lot in Celina.

No, just drain off the oil, then undo the dozen or so 13mm bolts, there is a
part in there that fails and causes the problem, although it is rare - were
you using Amsoil ;-)

After pulling the water tranny cover off, the problem appears to be
the left intermediate gear wheel and lack of bearings.
The bearing bushing is frozen to the shaft.
The bearings along and bearing housing are ground up and in the
bottom of the cover.

What is the best way to pull the bushing off the shaft without damage
to the shaft or back side of the tranny?
If the bearing bushing doesn't come off with a gear puller, how is
the shaft pulled without hurting the rear cover?

We have our tech and talk all on one board, what could be better for
keeping a group of similar enthusiasts in tune with each other and at
such a low price?
Everyone has the right to his or her own opinion, this is ok and
natural.
