I would bet against the thought of the plates being blank and the dealer
stamping them. From the pictures I've seen of peoples' VIN plates, the
characters and stampings look the same, ie same sloppy placement, same
size/style, etc. as the one on my car. I find it highly unlikely all the
data plates were from cars that were sold by the same place as my car.
