New Lake Explored

New Lake Explored

A~poda: "I'd like a launch permit please."
Cashier: "For what? Where's your boat?"
A~poda: "That there Amphicar is my boat."
Cashier: "You wanna drive a car into the lake?"
A~poda: "Yes ma'am I do, but it will float."
Cashier: "Are you `nucking futs' or what?"
A~poda: "Its an amphibious car my dear."
Cashier: "What's amfiberous mean?"
A~poda: "Means it'll drive and float."
Cashier: "This I gotta see... here's your permit."
A~poda: "Thanks. You wanna ride?"
Cashier: "Are you `nucking futs' or what?"
A~poda: "Nice talkin to ya."

The warm Santa Ana winds created 1 to 2 foot white
caps on about a third of the lake. It was surely
"top up" and "widows up" conditions. My dear
Mermaid wife was dreading being so far from
anyone at the far end of the lake. No one else
dared be out in such conditions... whimps!
This was a BIG lake compared to my little home
base puddle (lake Miramar). `Uncharted waters'
as the saying goes. Felt like a cork in a washing
machine as the winds buffeted Amphi's side with
60 mph winds and waves. Mermaid was right,
this was a bit of a worry. Enough water came
over the hood and engine compartment that I
had both bilge pumps going, heart was skipping
beats too. As we rounded the island the winds
subsided and Amphi, Mermaid, and I all sighed
in relief. The map indicated a beach in the up
coming lake cul-de-sac. Indeed, Amphi emerged
and we had a picnic lunch while fisherman gave
themselves bald spots trying to figure out how
we managed to "drive up on shore." We drove
back into the water and back to the boat ramp.
There the cashier just shook her head and yelled,
"YOU ARE NUCKING FUTS!!!"

Which lake was it?

Those of us in Southern California would like to know.

Thank you.
