Fuel shutoff valve seals - 04-23-2002, 02:09 PM

I'm finally going to fix and reinstall the shutoff valve under the gas tank. I
did like many have done, turned the handle to see what happens. What happens is,
the damn things start to leak. The last time I checked there were no seals for
the valves, top o-rings and bowl seals yes, but not the seal that goes behind
the the valve face. So I'm having some made. They should be done Friday. I had
to order 10 so if anyone is interested in one or two, let me know.

Scott,

I picked up all those pats at a local Porche/Mercedes dealer. I made
my own "valve face seal" out of neoprene. I would certainly be
interested in a better one than I have.

Do you still want to hook up on the way to Celina?

Hi Scott,
It's not necessary to have them made. At least the one in my
Amphi was a vintage Porsche part. A local German car repair place
matched it up to my old one. When they're new, they are surprisingly
thick and get mashed down when you put the thing back together. I was
just about to go over and have him order a dozen of them in for me to
give to you guys. They're cheap too.
Thanks,

John Friese

It figures. There was talk awhile back that the parts were unavailable. I
figured I'd get the ball rolling, but if the parts are over the counter, I'm all
for that.

John, if you could get a part number for the pieces, I'd really like to get mine
put back together.

Thanks,
