U-joint question - 04-25-2002, 08:23 AM

I received a replacement U-joint from Gordon's complete with grease
zerk and B4 I dig in and replace it, I know that 2 of the 4 special
screws that attach the yokes at the water tranny have stripped stars
or heads and I will have to extract them. I want to know what size
and pitch metric these screws are so that I can pick some up B4 doing
this work. Anybody have this info off hand?
Tommy, I found and have ordered U-joints from NAPA that you gave me
part numbers on, thanx.

Metric (of course) 8 x 15 x 1.25. Won't something other than those
star things work here?

I used Grade 8 button head cap screws which are readily available.

Marty,

I had to get a long (~4") torx and lathe it down to be able to clear
the flanges. If you can use the suggested button heads, you will be
much happier when it comes time to tighten or replace them.

John
