Save Crusty - 07-09-2002, 08:53 AM

Having enjoyed may rides in Crusty,
and watched the joy Billy & Randy
bring to the senior citizens at the
Celina retirement home... I have
made my donation to the Save Crusty
fund. However, I do believe Billy
deserves to be roasted in Celina
during our Saturday dinner. Sort of
a toast-n-roast for the man who put
Amphis back in the news.

I second the roast. Even though Billy has earned the nickname "Splash
King" over the years, he could have been called "Ride King".

I was in some State in the USA (sorry I cant remember which) with my
Amphi when a man approached with the standard questions, but this guy
had ridden in one in the past few years. I said "Oh really? Where?"
and he said he was in Sweetwater N.J. when this blue Amphi started
giving people free rides and he took him up on the offer. The man
could not bring himself to remember the name of the owner, but he did
remember one important detail.... "I BRAKE FOR FISH"

I'll will GLADLY donate because Billy (and Randy too!) will always be
part of my Amphicar experience.

My god, as I read this, are you sure they are not dead? Whew! Anyways
good luck Crusty!!!

Were in for a few bucks to help out. Billy and Randy, here's hoping you
find the car in good condition. Keep us posted.

I do not mean to sound like a snob in anyway, but
wouldn't Billy's insurance take care of this rescue?

I would like to know so that I should perhaps review
the details of my own Amphi's coverage.

Thanks.

Hi Ed,

It certainly would be nice if the insurance covers
this, but you never do know. Also, many insurance
companies do not insure amphis in the water (contrary
to popular belief). We had to get special marine
insurance in addition to our car insurance for the
water aspect of the car. I don't know what the
insurance is going to say about this rescue.

Thank you Randy for your reply. My Hagerty insurance
also has the marine rider attached to it, so I think I
would be covered in this type of incident.

I guess I just figured that everyone would protect
themselves as best they could against the loss of
these rare vehicles we have, whether in the water or
out.
