Re: Flame Arrester

If your air cleaner goes right on the carb you do not have an arrestor. They
were not standard equipment and were not required.

Flame Arrester

Anyone got a pic of a flame arrester? I'm not sure if I have one. They
go between the carb and intake right... Or is this an exaust part...

I must not have one. My air cleaner attaches directly to the top of my
carb. I'd still like to see a pic if anyone has one...

Re: Flame Arrester

Craig:
Canada cars did not have flame arresters only US destined cars. Maybe your
car went to Alaska from Canada. Tommy is correct that if you have a open
oil cap then you won't have the pipe coming off the valve cover for the
breather. If you do then you can use the air cleaner with the pipe coming
off if you have one or the arrester with the pipe coming off it. It makes
no difference. Take a look at the pipe which comes off your block (carb
side) upwards then bends strait down. Some of these pipes were closed off
while other were open at the end. I have a few arresters if you want one
but I'll have to look to see if they have the pipes but I think they do.
I'd suggest using one as it doesn't seem to effect performance and no matter
how over kill one might think it is your still adding a safety item.

Re: Flame Arrester

Thanks Mike, I think my car must have come with one originally. I was
told it came up from Tenn around 81. Let me know what you have for
arresters. I'll need one with a pipe.
