Vapor Lock

My two cents:
I realize that many of you guys are fantastic engineers and have loads
of experience in rebuilding engines. You are very gifted people to work
on Amphi's. Since I lack any kind of mechanical skill or knowledge and
still have to keep Molly running I have to be a bit more creative. Many
years ago we spent an entire afternoon in Indiana, in the hot sun,
inches away from the water, waiting for the engine to cool down and
release the vapor lock. We immediately put wooden clothes pins in
stratigic places along the gas line and have never had a problem since.
I mean, who looks in the engine compartment anyway. With all that
grease and grime in there, who cares about a few little clothes pins.
Simple fix - it works. Gloria

Gloria,

That is a shining example of "Work smarter, not harder" That fix is
one that has worked for a very long time. I have had a few cars over
the years with a clothes pin on it. I had a '66 Cadillac with a 'C'
clamp holding my thermostat housing on for several years! It may
still be there now for all I know.

John
