Ed:
Simply remove your wheel, disconnect your brake line where it meets with the
metal line, remove the bottom shock bolt and the five or seven nuts which
hold the entire oscillating arm on. Don't remove the arm from the solid
rear axle by removing the pinch bolt unless you have this tool otherwise you
will end up taking the rear solid axle out anyway. You'll have to remove
it to loosen the nuts in back in order to reattach the arm plus end up
having to adjust the tension correctly. Also release your brake cables from
underneath the drivers seat so when you pull out the axles/assembly your
line will also come with it. At that point you can remove the trans
however one suggestion would be to put a wedge under the bellhousing/engine
so it doesn't drop thus making it harder to mate the trans back to it.
It's just barely a one man job to get the trans back in by yourself. If
your going to pull the engine anyway at some point then wait and reintall
them both together as one assembly later on. Once you figure all this out
and do it once all of these jobs are very easy. I'd suggest putting the
oscillating arm on your bench and handling the bearings, seals and shafts
prior to putting them back.
