I just separated my transmissions from the clutch bell housing (being careful to
not radially load the transmission input shaft). Once the engine was free, I
grasped the transmission input shaft to feel how it turned. I was surprised to
find that the shaft has almost a 1/2" of radial movement with just moderated
side pressure.

Is this normal, or a very bad fortune cookie?

Ask Theo Sahli. He's the tranny guru in Newport Beach. If that shaft
is moving in and out of the tranny, it doesn't sound good to me but
