Even with the late model axle grease fitting-greasing axle is a pain.
Now I am almost thinking that the side mounted fitting is not as good as
center fitting. It seems with side fitting grease goes straight through.
Center goes to four points. Now what about a shrink tubing. After
greasing sliding shrink tubing over joint. With no water in ujoint it
would go for years maintenance free. Maybe one of our engineers can look
into this. --- I have started reading "Half Safe" A must read for any
Amphibian! Man o man would I have liked to have a frosty one with that
guy!! The trials and tribulations of taking a "seep" across the

Daryl-ict and I am looking forward to another Rock River adventure
too! Almost have the Extraordinaire ready to go! New digital depth
finder, 12 disk CD changer and a minty fresh bilge!

I think the shrink wrap idea has much promise. Water may be able
to get in with the heat, movement and the power of the churning
water. What about adding some "med squish" O-rings (or some water
proof weather stripping like door at body seals) under the wrap at
each end? This may help the wrap keep the seal around each of the 4
arms.

Hi guys, but the water is under some pressure to get in. I always worry about
water getting back out. If water does get in it cant get out then it can stay
in for years. I drilled a hole in the frame of a car that had not been
swimming in over four years, water came out. I don't use clamps on the low end
of
the drive shafts. I think they just keep the water in. But sometimes I'm a
little wild, you know.
