Amphi Sold on eBay

I'm not often surprised by eBay happenings, but.......

Auction ended with a BUY IT NOW, at $55,000.00
Yes, look at all those zeros!

And refreshing my browser, it's back again, as:

4545486025

And the seller says:

"For those of you who may have seen this listing 2 days ago, this item is being relisted because an eBayer's 5 year old child accidently hit the 'Buy-It-Now' button."

I think the kid knew what was right!

But more interesting was that the seller left the "buyer" glorious feedback, stating:

"Fast payment. Very honest. Great eBayer!"

Hmm, hrslvrnva sends a positive feedback for a sale that is cancelled, saying that the payment was made very quickly. Now this is starting to make me dizzy.

Re: Amphi Sold on eBay

Ed - My personal opinion is that there is something more to it,
especially since ther is good feedback left on a non-deal. There was
also a bid of $28.5k made before the BIN was taken by "accident".
IMNSHO - That is $8500 more than abosoluley top price they could
ever hope for on a green car, now red with a glass hood. The level
of detail (missing screws on the horn, tires, gauges and engine
compartment not cleaned up etc) tells me all I need to know.

Re: Amphi Sold on eBay

Yes, eBay is insane.

I looked at that amphi on line. Looked like a solid runner. But was it a 50k
amphi? Not even close. While there are some that are worth that, in this case I
think buyer paid a good 20k more than they should have. Seller should be happy

Re: Amphi Sold on eBay

Hi there, hrslvrnva here, the seller for the Amphi on eBay. I just
thought I'd clarify why I left positive feedback for the 'no sale'
auction. The person who's child accidently hit buy it now promptly
paid the $89.00 eBay listing fees on the auction. So I certainly
think they deserve the positive feedback. With all the scams on eBay
it's not uncommon these days to not get payment for an auction and I
think the fact that they were honest enough to get back to me and let
me know what happened and pay for thier 5 year olds mistake deserves
commendation. Obviously the Amphi didn't sell for those of you
watching the auction. If any one is interested please feel free to
email me at hrslvrnva@aol.com with any & all offers! Thanks!

Well, "hrslvrnva", events havetranspired to explain that curious activity. OTOH, your feedback could have just as easily read "Auction cancelled, mutually agreed, erroneous bid." Some of us do try to learn things about buyers and sellers from their feedback, so clarity of the feedback is essential.

BTW, maybe I'm too old-fashioned, but I don't like conversing with people who always use an alias.

Ed,

I tend to agree with you here. I did my own investigation on the
bidders and ID histories. There are some things that (in my own
opinion) just do not add up. A 5 year old who not only hit the BIN
button, but then followed it up by confirming the bid, hummm. Quite
often you will be asked to confirm your password as well. Maybe it's
nothing, I can't say anything but how it appears. Using your real
name does add credibility to your statements.
