What looked like a Mazda Miata that floats turns out to be a big anchor for
the company that wanted to sell them for $285,000 a piece. No buyers have
come forward to buy the car even now that Gibbs has slashed the price to
$142,000. The company now says they are looking to sell the technology since
they can't sell the car. If Springfield couldn't make it big with the
Amphicar, there must not be a big market for sea-faring cars.

Not quite right according to my sources. There were around 10 firm orders with substantial deposits paid (all those who agreed to buy at $285K had price adjusted to $142K). There were some technical problems with the car and some issues with legislation and insurance - even although Gibbs thought they had that covered - and that is why cars were not delivered to customers. They have been built and are sitting in awarehouse.

Difficult to know what will happen next - will be interesting !
