This sure is a cute little amphi. It sure would look great on our almost finished dock at Lake Cavanaugh, Wa.

Does anyone know anything about this car?

Cheri,

Save your money. It's priced about $6 to $10k too much. (depending on
the details you can't see, In my opinion) Missing a visor (he said he
has it, but broken), many trim pieces (side, headlight, tailight and
hood lip) wrong front bumper, wrong interior, wrong horn and wrong
exhaust. Who knows what else lurks beneath the trunk, engine cover and
paint.They say it's an "8", closer to a "5". I got very few details
from the seller when asked. I never got any pics of the top in
the "up" position either, that concerns me too. This is just my
professional opinon.

I have to go with John on this one. More important
than what you see is what you do not see.

There are no detailed pictures of the engine
compartment, trunk compartment, etc. How about those
battery trays. Ad also lacks any useful pictures of
the interior or gauges, etc.. Just as any vehicle
can look good from 100 feet away, the same holds true
for low res photos taken at only select angles. Six
(6) photos do not cut it on any vehicle priced over
$15k.

It states 1,000 miles since restoration but does not
list what the actual mileage on the odometer is. Was
the engine rebuilt, how about the tranny? Was the
outside restored or the inner hull as well. Who did
the work. These are all details you would expect to
see spelled out on a car that is an "8". Personally,
1,000 miles since restoration but not driven in the
water since then makes me a bit nervous. Does it
leak? How about the body work, metal, fiberglass, or
bondo? When I bought my car the it had been repainted
a few years prior and it had not been swam since. Had
it been in the water, the crappy body work would have
become immediately evident. Remember, Earl Schaibe
will paint any car for $149.

I usually refrain from making comment on the cars I
see on eBay even if they are a bit over-priced. But
when I see someone represent a car as a "8" that
clearly is not, I feel compelled to issue a caveat
emptor.
