Counting eggs.
Dave, never count on anything till cash is in your hands
I have ben trying to sell my 5 Houseboats since 2004.
Had a deal made up with a local renter in spring to buy all 5 .
payments were worked out etc.9had lots of plans for that money)
then he didn,t even have the guts to call me. he emailed me thet he backed
out..
Been droping the price and still no offers.
anyway back to Amphis.
Still working on all the hardware to have Original style battery boxes but
my man is very busy this time of year(works at making heating ducts) also
having the brace that the rear seat backrest clips into made.We already make
the meatl braceing for the body that goes behind the Alu. trim on sides.
Also workinhg on the front seat backrest frames... SOON.
Installing fibreglass inner fenders and lower skins on a customers car.,
took lots of photo,s. email if you would like to be on my list(progess of
job list.Lots of photos)

I never consider anything "sold" until cash is in hand. I require a
small non-refundable deposit before I will take a car off the market
to help encourage them to follow through. I do not sell on eBay
either as too many people refuse to acknowledge their contract to
buy and eBay makes little if any effort to enforce the sale. It's
been 4 or 5 years since I tried to sell an Amphi on eBay. It ran
through 3 or 4 times because of non-paying bidders. One lady said
her 3 year old "accidently" hit the But it Now button! BS!!!! eBay
made no effort what so ever to correct it and they forced me to pay
for the listings anyway.
Gord - Make some metal battery boxes/trays a bit wider (.50" - .75"
or so I think may work) to accomidate new style batteries. This is
why most boxes are gone from cars. The older style batteries were
thinner. When new batteries were installed, the boxes were to small
and got tossed. Maybe we could have the original look with a modern
battery inside?

It's true the original battery boxes are to small for today's common batteries. Having a reproduced box would be a move towards originality but if the car doesn't have the original battery tray, tabs and metal bands (which as you know few do) then whyhave the box at all? Your just plopping somethingin to fill space and a plastic box would be much better for this and prevent acid and rust issues. On the other hand if your car has the original tabs, tray and bands then a larger type original box is useless too. Who would remove theserare original items so an oversize box will fit? Maybe you can make the entire set up for a larger box. If used with care you could keep the area from rusting and use the larger box correctly.
My cars have their boxes but none would ever go in water or rain with the boxes in place.IMHO it was a bad idea and these are good for show only. Gord, This stuff might be nice in fiberglass.

Probably no big deal. Their design would trap water under the box and tray as well as inside the box around the battery. Acid could also leak out on the metal. The top was open and water could easily get to the battery. Johns probably right that most were simply disgarded when it was time to replace the battery. If owners continued to use them and fit batterys inside they all would have certainly rusted away by now too. I think fiberglass would be much better and Gord could do it.
