Jacques Rougerie. Its a 1964 and he has had it for about 15 years.
It was restored in France, with all of the parts being purchased
from Hugh. Jacques and I have cruised the Champs-Elysee many times
in it, but Ive yet to take it in the Seine. It has some very unique
cleats above the front wheel wells. I have no idea where they came
from, but they look great.

The boat that it sits on is a Pineche, or French river barge that
has been converted to his home and office. Inside, he has an
aquarium full of lake sturgeon which you can actually dive into and
hang out in a bell. The rest of Jaques daily life is equally as
interesting.

Bill:

I had thought thatspotting a hundred-meter or so boat, with a bright red Amphi on its stern deck, would have been fairly easy using Google to fly down the Seine. Not! There must be thousands of nearly identical Pineche, not to mention that the Seine follows a tortured, multi-channel path through the region. For the sake of us armchair Googlers, can you provide coordinates or a nearby bridge or quay?

I also wonder how Jacques launches his Amphi. I didn't see any hoist or even ramp mechanism in that photo. Would you imagine that Jacques might care to share some better photos of his Amphi / Pineche arrangement?

Google Place de concorde

It will come up with the exact area. head SW in the image and there
is a bridge. At the north end of the bridge, to the east is his
Pineche. Its riverside, second row. the bad news is that an awning
destroys the view.

He puts the car on land with ramps that lead from the stern, and he
puts the car in water with a crane.

For those of you that have recently asked and that follow along, the
12th NASA NEEMO Undersea mission has started here in Key Largo. You
can follow along at

Hi All,>>

>>

I went to the bridge at the Southern end
of the Place de la Concorde, after checking out the image on Google Earth.>>

>>

And there it was, on he
rear deck, just like the picture on www.Amphicars.com
except from close up you can see
that it doesn’t get out much. Although it’s on axle stands, the tires
look flat. Maybe they just look that way.>>

>>

Next time I’m over, I hope to have
made contact with he owner, and found out the “rules of the road”
for getting wet in the
lace>Seinelace>. My restoration should be done in time for summer!!! (not saying which summer)>>
