Mon dieu! It must be French week here on the Liste de L'Amoureaux
d'Amphicar. So, a Citro?n, huh? I adore Citro?ns, especially those
teardroppy old DS saloon cars or their predecessor high end model the
gangstery Traction Avant (11CV?). I've also fostered an inexplicable
attraction over the years towards those weird corrugated panel stepvan
things they used to make. In North America Citro?ns are like the two
dollar bill of vehicles: freakish yet somehow charming.
So, if the one you're considering buying is in decent roadworthy shape
but yet not some priceless fragile concourse-grade collectible, and you
want it transported for nothing or next to nothing, how about posting a
Craigslist rideshare ad in the closest venue to the car in Washington
State? A step above that in terms of price, but also with a modicum of
security (at least they apparently check driving records), might be the
Auto Driveaway Company at
www.autodriveaway.com, which has an office in
Seattle. Beyond these free or very low cost alternatives, you have a
whole panoply of other shipping options including the relatively new
online shipping bid service UShip (see
www.uship.com) and of course the
various vehicle transport services recommended on this List by other
Amphicar owners over the years.

Le Maitre du Bilge
