Dave,
The auto glass shops use some rubber stuff that comes in rolls and is
of varying thickness. This stuff may look like a bicycle inner tube
but is special. You spray it with oil and the top coating kind of
melts into a black goo that allows the glass and rubber to slip into
the channel. Once totally in, you cut off the excess with a sharp
knife. The slippery black oily surface dries and turns into the glue
that holds the glass in. It's a really weird process and very messy
but local auto glass shops, even here in California, do it rather well
and for only a few bucks. Be sure to tell them to seat the glass
firmly into the channel. If they don't you will have trouble closing
both the vent windows and the rear side windows.
