Re: tire pressure

Remember the pressure is more for the tyre than to car - so 14psi is right
for the early bias Vredesteins but radials should be run at nearer 35 - and
never less than 25. Ask the manufacturers - ask them nicely and offer some
photos of their tyres on your Amphi and you might even get a free set -
worked for me !

Re: tire pressure

The best pressure for a Amphicar is 20lbs on the front and 30lbs on the back no matter the tires..

Take it from a old Corvair guy!

tire pressure

Any information about the correct tire pressures to be used with cocker
bias ply tires?

I vaguly remember reading about pressures that are not the same as in
the manual. Is this true?

Can someone shed some light on this subject for me?

Thank You

Re: tire pressure

Hello,

I've run Coker bias play tires for 6 years and use the original tire
pressures given by Amphicar, 14 in the fronts and 30 in the rears.
Gordon's even sells a replacement placard with the numbers on it.
These pressures work just fine for bias ply tires and I routinely
drive my car at 70 and sometimes drive up to 85 mph with no problems
and no front end "float". Yes, I have a "hot" 1296 engine in it.

Re: tire pressure

Hi,

I run a Weber DGV 5A carb. on a Pierce manifold. The system normally
comes jetted for a 1500 engine and I find the engine runs best with a
bit larger high speed jet and accelerator pump jet installed. I'm
still playing with minor variations on these jets to come up with the
perfect match but it runs quite well with the jets that originally
came with it and I used it that way for several years. I'm just a bit
picky.
