My 1st thought is your paint may not have been compatible with your
undercoating. Was the undercoating the rubberised type or a "paintable"
type? If so it may just be the undercoating itself. It can shrink over
time causing the finish to crack as the paint will not shrink with it.
If it's not the undercoating, then the prep work or mixing may not have
been done correctly either. The Engine bay paint is no different than
the rest of the car. Prep is all important as it determines the quality
of the finished product.
