Hey Poda,

After reading your Y2K + 8 Protocol,

It's good to see that all Californians are notgoofy!

Amphicar Y2K+8 Validation Protocol:

As the end of the year approaches we should all
be making preparations for Amphicar Y2K+8 compliance.
In an effort to simplify the process I have developed
a simple validation protocol in which each of you can
easily validate and document your Amphicar Y2K+8
compliance. Note this protocol applies only to
Amphicars sold from 1961 through 1968, is intended as
a precautionary measure and not an all inclusive
functionality verification.

Step 1: Obtain two calendars as described below:
Calendar A - Depicts December 2007
Calendar B - Depicts January 2008

Step 2: Firmly mount both calendars side by side in
front of your Amphicar. Be sure your Amphi can
clearly see both calendars without obstruction.

Step 3: Vigorously point from December 31st 2007 to
January 1st 2008 for a minimum of 30 seconds. Then
remove the December 2007 calendar leaving only the
January 2008 calendar remaining.

(Caution: these next steps should be preformed in a
well ventilated space)

Step 4: Now climb aboard your Amphicar, insert the
key into ignition, and start the engine. The engine
should immediately start (note: the choke may be
required in certain climates).

Step 5: While the engine is running try each and every
little knob, switch, lever, and button per the owner's
manual. Observe each gauge, light, and indicator as
described in the owner's manual. Each item should
function within normal operating parameters.

Step 6: Verify functionality of transmission (both
land and water) by projecting road ways and water ways
on the wall behind the calendar and while keeping the
clutch engaged, trying each gear as described in the
owner's manual. Also be sure to verify the proper
propeller rotation.

Step 7: Repeat steps 4 through 6 in actual
environmental conditions whenever possible.

If for some reason one or more of your validation
checks failed, it may mean your Amphicar is not Y2K+8
compliant or it may mean you owe your Amphi some
quality time. Email me off list for more specific
diagnosis and potential remedies? Errrr? maybe
that's not such a good idea after all.

Happy Holidays & New Year to all my amphibious amigos
and fine finned friends. SWIM GREAT IN 2008!!!

Amphipoda! Wonderful to read more of your infamous amphibious wit.
Been missing that. I've always thought of you as our literary Gary
Larson of the Amphicar world. Welcome back.

Happy Holidays to you too and all our other amphibious friends.
