"Emergency" Override - 12-28-2007, 06:44 PM

Hi->>

>>

My emergency override button no longer works properly. If I
hold it down, the car will start, but quit once I let go. However, the timing
device still works and will allow the car to start after a minute or so, but
the bilge blower remains on. I suspect it’s one of the relay units.
Anyone have a guess as to which has failed, or is it something else. I
remember I had another problem with the relays, but that turned out to be a
grounding problem. Any thoughts would be helpful.>>

That button is nothing but a pain in the bilge. It is also potentially dangerous should it fail at a bad time. It can be easily bypassed, unfortuntaely I am not sure how as Dave took care of mine. Someone here can telll you how to do so but I would definitely bypass it rather than fix it.

Hi Steve,

It sounds like one of the relays has welded its contacts together. Pull
the caps off both relays and use a contact file on the contacts to clean
them up and smooth them. This should take care of the problem. The
system isn't too complex and it's nice to keep the cars intact whenever
it's reasonable to do.
