It's time to let her go. That is my 1961 white amphi. I would appreciate some advice on how to value this car. It drives well and cruizes just fine . Lately however I just don't drive it enough. If someone can help with valueing I would appreciate it. I know more info is needed to do this and will pass it on when I know what is needed. I have some photos which may help. This car is located on beautiful Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Hi Hadley,
I would be happy to help you with this process, and once you decide on a
fair value, I have two friends who are serious buyers for a fairly priced car.
Please let me know your thoughts, or send photos and details, and I will try to
help you decide on a fair price.
Thanks,
Chas

Hadley,

When I was buying a friends car (not an Amphicar), he wanted what I thought
was too much. So we decided to wait for an ebay insertion fee special. The
next weekend ebay had $1 insertion fees, so we listed it with an extremely
high reserve. Once it was on ebay we waited a week and the bidding stopped.
After the auction, a few ebayers contacted me with a higher offer, but it
was still way under the inflated reserve price. We took the highest
bidder's price and that was the selling price of the car.

The cost for this method was $21 for ebay and a week and a half of time. If
you are honest with the cars condition the market will set the price. These
cars are going through the roof and perhaps now coming back down to earth.
This could be a starting point. Good Luck!

Re: car sale

Hi Hadley,
I am originally from the Island (Victoria) and have a friend in Nanaimo who may be able to help you. He owned many Amphis from the time they were first available and is very knowledgeable on the subject and could be very helpful. I now live in Ontario. I am interested in buying your car and will be in BC April.

Re: car sale

I will send you my car value guide off line.
I have a clasified section on my web page(AMPHICAR CANADA) or just click on add on this web site. That I will list cars for sale with your photos at no charge. and I do buy and sell Amphicar.Usually its always more buyers than sellers and have not been able to help new folks find a car but lately that has changed to more sellers than buyers. Hmmm...
Did we get the price up to high to fast????
GORD.

Re: car sale

Thanks Gord,

I have been studying lots of information on the net about Amphicars,
looks like there is a lot of work that could go into one or quite
expensive for a restored unit.
I think I need to see one up close and go for a ride before making
any decisions.

Did you still have that car value guide? I check your website often,
thanks again for your response.

Kim
