Zombie Email post Has Been Killed - 02-29-2008, 01:12 PM

Hi all,

Many of you probably received the same sandblasting post many times over. No, Larry was not being a spammer! For some reason the message got stuck in the e-mail staging area and was not being deleted as it should. Thus, it was resending every 15 minutes or so.

Apologies for the inconvenience. I'll be keeping an eye out for any other zombie emails.

thanks,

Mike

Since I cant seem to get messages to come direct to me I did not get hit with this. The only time a email from lovers comes is if someone replies to a fresh mesage (like this one)That I put in.
Otherwise I have to Find site and open. Min and Min. pas by. SO because of this I do not go on everyday So If I dont chat its because I not aware of new subjects,
GORD.

5% of members who are not receiving messages by email have found that it is because they never turned this option on. Anothe 94% of members who are not receiving messages via email have found that it is because of the spam filters on their email host or pc. It varies by email provider but usually you will find that the messages are going to a junk or spam folder. If you look at the messages in those folders you can then usually mark them as not junk / not spam. Sometimes it is a matter of adding to your address book. If you have subscribed to receive individual messages and are not receiving any, and have checked your spam settings / folders, do let me know. There have been (improving) issues with lag time, but if you have subscribed to email delivery you should be getting the emails.

Hi All,

Just wanted to give you all an update on the zombie emails that kept repeating over and over again. The root cause of the problem has been resolved. Replying with "Stop it Now" had nothing to do with the fix!

It appears the email utility was unseting a variable too soon. This has been corrected should resolvedthe issue with multiple posted replies. Why Larry's posts got singled out I do not know, but as I said earlier it was in no way his fault that the zombie email bug hit his messages twice.

FYI, of the THOUSANDS of vbulletin based message boards, we are one of only about 100 that have integrated the email post and reply by email capability. Who says that Amphicars are not on the cutting edge of technology.

I'll echo the "good job". I finally turned off the option of rec. emails until the problem was resolved. Might leave it off for a couple of days just to see if it rears its ugly head again. Thanks.
