Axle Zerk Fitting??? - 04-19-2008, 12:39 PM

Was cleaning up and rebuilding my axles and was wondering if zerk fittings could be installed to grease the spline between the two axle halves? Would be great to not have to remove the boot and dissassemble to grease. I seem to recall that the newer axles have a zerk fitting for this purpose.
Thanks,
Ted

The other styles do have that. Carefully inspect Your tunnels INSIDE for wear. With the old style large axles and a worn trans or motor mount the axle rubs inside. I have seen them razor thin with the outside looking perfect. Later Dave the Wave

Ted, Mine have grease fittings for the spline as does this extra axle. Should be easy for a machine shop to add them.

Ken,
Thanks for the picture. I was wondering about where to locate the zerk fitting.
