Heater Hose recommendations? - 05-11-2008, 06:21 PM

What is the suggested type of heater hose to use in the Amphicar? Standard automobile heater hose, or perhaps something more chemical resistant that would stand up to the sludge in the bilge?
Thanks,
Ted

Heater hose in Amphis is metyic and Not Aval in Canada. so I use 5/8 hose.
I order in the top of the line hose, it is much stiffer, thicker and more oil rersistance but is 3x more expensive than std. you could also cover hose with insulatinng foam made for copper pipes. I have also used this on steel fuel lines to prevent gas from boiling

I bought Gates Green Stripe 5/8 inch heater hose and it should work fine. Much heavier duty than standard heater hose and also recommended for marine uses according to Gates website. The original Amphicar hose clamps just barely fit, but once on, they do tighten up nicely.
