I missed out I guess, but where did you find this Amphicar ? On the subject
of its age, I would say chromed vent window framing means late model as does
crinkle finish black dashboard, but another tip off as you probably know is
where is the fuse panel. If it is inside under the dash, it is a late model,
if under the hood, it is an early model - I believe. At least that is my
recollection, but I own a 1967.

I see e-mails on this site directed to a "Victor" and am assuming there is
another "Victor" in the net now. As I, an others, have decried, it would be
nice if writers would sign their messages with enough identification for other
members to discern who they are unless the content of the message makes it
obvious. I know that if I put "Vic near Daytona" or the " 1967 Split
Personality," enough of you know who I am.

To the other "Victor," where are you located or what year and color is your
Amphicar and how long have you had it ? Capt. Splash

Hi Vic, sorry for the slow response but I did not see this post.
I was contacted by the agent for the estate of two sisters. There were two Amphicars for sale although the red one was spoken for the blue one was still available. So I got it, I did not steal it.
I have yet to receive a copy of the original bill of sale and I may not have the exact numbers. The two sisters had a '64 Amphi and got $1300 in trade for two new '67 Amphicars those two cost $5900. When sold the Red car had about 1250 miles and the blue one has just 469 miles.

Let me take a moment now to thank both Dave the Wave and Gord from the great north country. They were both concerned that perhaps someone had just stuck a low millage speedo in a run of the mill car and perhaps I hadn't noticed. They were both concerned that someone had hoodwinked this poor carnie kid. Thanks guys. But.

The car is waring its original tires with the original spare still under the hood, the seats are perfect, the floor mats and peddles are intact without any sign of use. There is a Skelly oil change sticker in the door jamb dated 6/28/74 with 229 miles noted on that sticker. The car is waring its 1978 auto tag, and shows 469 miles on the speedo.
But the thing that says "new car" is the string tag giving the steps to lower and raise the convertible top. That tag is still hanging from the center bow of the top.

The little car has been waiting for thirty years so it needs to be reborn, we will be gentle. Kinda funny, the car is almost perfect and at the same time needs a ton of work to replace the seals and the rest, a ton of work for sure.

So there you are Vic that's the story, and thanks again Dave and Gord for your concern but I think I'm OK on this one.
