Fiberglass Hood??? - 06-16-2008, 09:36 PM

Thinking about purchasing a fiberglass trunk hood. Can anybody other than Hugh or Gord tell me what they think? Fit, finish, etc.
Thanks,
Ted

Fiberglass Hood??? - 06-17-2008, 05:47 AM

Hi Ted,
I bought a glass fibre hood for the front trunk some 15 years ago from
Hugh. Finnish on both sides is very good. The front “lip” needed a lot
of abrasives in order to accept the thin chrome list. So far it looks
o.k. – no cracks or deformation.
Of course a solid metal hood is nicer but as an alternative I think it’s
o.k.

Med vänliga hälsningar /Best regards

Front hoods, There is no Comarison,, Mine are the best ones out there.
I pulled a mould off my Blue Car mighty mouse..
as the inner(smooth) and outer are Joined All bracing is glassed into to all the areas where brakets are bolted on.The 3 bolt holes in the hood area are glassed in , in such a way that you can ajust the hood(moveable)
Perfect fix, no rust, light..Save your old front hood.. put mine on never worryagain.. $600.00 but hard to ship! Can bring to Celina.
there is a pic of Ron Trudeau at Celina in 2005 with 3 mermaids laying on his front hood..

Rear hoods is a different story..
I sell them as a kit.. inner and outer for $375.00 not Joined.. they must have the lovers cut out and filledand then fitted to your car for an exact fit..
IF I were to sell; a finished hood the labour would bring the cost to over $1500.00 They do need a lot of bracing and heat proofing!

Gord Souters hood has improved from first generation hoods. Front hood line is nice and crisp. Very easy to install. Seal fits as it should. Gord can always be trusted. If there is any issues he takes care of them. Later Dave the Wave
