Light bulb for pole light for Dolores -
06-27-2008, 04:10 PM
Hi there everyone, I just got two super duper rear pole lights from Gordon Imports they look great. All long, slim and shinny.
Silly me, I figured they would include a light bulb inside the light.
Well no such luck.
They are a great looking and great condition light, but no bulb in place.
So I am wondering if someone would know the proper bulb number. I know a "too bright, too hot" bulb will kill the lens or blow the fuse and that would not be fun.
So if anyone will tell me the correct number I will get a bulb and Dolores (the 469 mile '67 Amphi) will be shining bright and happy.
Thanks in advance, Tommy in Tampa

Light bulb for pole light for Dolores -

Tommy,
That's an S-8 SC (single contact) socket so there are a number of
bulbs to choose from:
93 = 13W
1141 = 18W
1073 = 23W
1156 = 27W
I thought the pole light lens is glass so heat shouldn't be an issue
like on the front marine light.

Don’t go any higher then an 18-watt. That is what I run. If you remember when we were out last year during the Celina fireworks you commented mine seemed awful bright so you may want to try the 11-watt.

PS: I like the name Dolores. Val just named the newly acquired electric Citicar "Lester" We had to buy a new 48 volt Lester battery charger for it and it stuck.

Pretty exciting about 'Lester', Ron. Which model does Val have: coupe, hatchback or van? Which build year? Do you have a planned usage or just to bop aorund?

Hi Ken and thanks for the info on the bulbs.
I just got two stern lights from Hugh. They are a meter long and in good condition. They have Hella Lens very clear and very plastic. Not glass but just as clear and maybe better cuz they are not so heavy swinging on the end of that long pole. I thought the lens were glass too but not these and they sure look NOS.
Thanks again, Tommy in Tampa

Larry, I am in the process of going over this critter (my original name). 1976 Citicar. I tryed to posted a picture but am having no luck. I bought this off one of our club members Ron Gaydis. Unsure what usage it will see, probably just to jump around the boro where I live. Right now neither Hagerty or Taylor will insure it.

Hi there Bones, If these are repops they are perfect. They even used vintage wrapping paper or should I call it parchment. I sorta only deal in old junk and these are NOS. Maybe the late long pole light lens were plastic. These have Hella # 10/39 clear plastic lens. If these are new they sure are good, good enough to fool this half blind old Hippie. Later boys, Tommy in Tampa
