hull protection coatings??---other than paint on the outside??

having trouble with my computer-- still illiterate to how to use exactly.
want to know if anyone has used outside hull coating such as rhino lining
usually used in truck bed to prevent damage--ive been offered free coating by
old classmate who has the franchise for this product. last time i painted
was with emron which has held up but now has some rock bumps/chips.----- its
practicality over originality for this amphicar, as my other one stays
original---. so am willing to experiment somewhat.----anyone???

I would not recommend this. Although these products are great for their
intended aplication, I would worry about moisture geting stuck between lining and
the hull, and causing more, rather than less, rust, as it is easier to rust the
steel than to rust the Rhino lining for it to get out. The moisture can get
in there even if the application is completely water tight, as the rapid change
in temperature when you enter or leave the water, creates condenation. That
is the major reason thatmoisture gets stuck in the lower sections of those
narrow rear fenders, where all of the amphicars tend to rust.
Also, you would lose the ability to view the actual hull, to determine the
extent of the deterioration, as you are doing now when you obseve the rock
chips. If paint or emron has held up this good, why not do it again. The periodic
recoating of chips or nicks is basic mainteneance.

Don't do it, will cause no end of problems, all Amphi needs underneath is a normal coat of semi gloss black (ideally with a base of etchprimer) keep it waxed and then just check it every year or so, that'll be good for at least half a century. If you drive over a lot of gravel then maybe consider stone chip in the wheel arches but no more than that.

I have had POR-15 on now for 5 years and zeros issues. No peeling and you can’t chip it. You must follow the instructions including the etching. I used a roller and it looks like it was sprayed on.
