Mystery Find????
So there I am... knowing my bros are whoopin' it up in Celina with old azpaul here in the heat. I start pokin' around behind the gas tank and find something mysterious. At first it felt like a radio but turned out to be a metal box. Everything on and it it was written in German (Verbandkasten) indicating it was a first aid kit. The dates are definitely '50's-60's. Wow! Have owners been finding these before? Was this used to treat a German assembly line worker and slipped back there? Was this equipment for a special road test in Germany? I'll have to research this further. I'll let you know. Jeeez... am I supposed to wear that eye patch for a nautical look? - azpaul

Re: Mystery Find????
What a cool find...I'm betting everyone with an unrestored car is thinking about going out and checking their Amphi right about now.

Re: Mystery Find????
After more investigation, I think I know more... the kit is missing one gauze pad, about 6 inches of tape, and I think I've found some drops of original blood on one of the fuel tank straps. Think of it!! That makes my Amphi the only one with actual biological providence. I took a scraping and it even tastes like blood! Barrett-Jackson narrative... " And now we have the only Amphicar know to exist with original manufacturing artifacts proven by DNA! Bidding begins at $150K!" What if that worker was related to royalty??? Wow!!!

Re: Mystery Find????
Hope you didn't remove too much of the blood drops...That would probably lower the value by half.

Re: Mystery Find????
It must have been a gusher... **Insert German cuss words**.... only half at B-G? If some movie star's car can command such high prices, imagine a biological connection with the folks who actually made it! Could that be Hans Tripple blood? The only thing better would have been a bone! Hmmmm.... no doubt as to originality, probably the best ORIGINAL Amphi example in the world! Everyone gone out to see if you've got something back there yet? I really hate to upstage everyone with the "best" Amphi in Arizona and the "rest" elsewhere! Come on'... at least go out and check your resto-Amphis... - azpaul50, now highly placed in Amphi society.

Re: Mystery Find????
Hi Paul,
Thank you so much. I went out to the garage and dug around behind my
fuel tank, and nothing, so I went around to he other side (passenger,
and dug around behind there, and felt something loose, but could not
fish it out form there. I ended up using a mirror and sure enough
there was tin box. I had to loosen the tank mounts to get it free,
but there was one of the first aid kits (just where you said it would
be) in my car as well, which is a 3,000 original mile car that was
purchased from the original owner!
Thanks for the tip!

Re: Mystery Find????
Wow! Knowing of Chas' reputation, I now have the second most desirable Amphi around. **azpaul salutes to the northeast**. I have no idea how many original miles mine has but it does have a low, low VIN. Tomorrow is Sunday so everyone should have time to check! Now there's TWO places to check. Negative (find) reports are also requested so we can figure this out by Monday! Randy and Dave, yours were negative, correct? John F., Ed, Capn John, Roger.... everyone please report! - azpaul50

Re: Mystery Find????
You guys are lucky! It's like finding a surprise package hidden in a
scavenger hunt. My Amphicar couldn't have the first aid kit or I
would have known when it was dismantled for restoration. Mine is a
1967 title. Ina (in the boro)
