SoCal Amphicarians

Has anyone done buisness with British Heritage Motorsports in El Cajon? I need to have my engine rebuilt and prefer to have it done somewhat locally by an experienced builder. Any recomendations, advice, or warninigs are welcome.
Thanks,
John U in San Diego

Hello John,

I haven't dealt with them but if Santa Barbara is still "somewhat local" I can highly recommend a shop up here that has done several engines for me.

Hi John,
Thanks for the responce. Santa Barbara is not a problem. I've been having some difficulty finding someone that has experience working on an old Triumph. How should I go about getting in touch with these guys?
Thanks

Re: SoCal Amphicarians

Hi John,

The place is here in Santa Barbara and it's name is Import Auto & Machine. The owners name is Joe and his partner is Mat and they are both very knowledgeable about these engines since they've done several for me. The engines I use are 1296 size but the 1147 is virtually the same. The last engine they did for me has valve guide seals installed and uses some special sort of Hastings rings and this engine is really sweet. It doesn't smoke at all, even at first start. I would highly recommend that you have them do the same tricks to your engine. Their phone number is 805-965-2303.

Thanks, this sounds great. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow and try to set something up. Thanks for all your effort. I'm getting excited now!
